Alternative Water Supply Through Flood Mitigation Orange City, Florida As part of a continuing engineering and architectural services contract with the City of Orange City, RS&H conducted a hydrological analysis to mitigate flooding near Mill Lake and Marshall Park Lake that was a result of changing land uses within the watersheds and heavy rains from recent hurricane seasons. The ultimate recommendation included pumping excess water from Mill Lake and nearby Marshall Park Lake to an existing water reclamation facility in Volusia County to not only mitigate flooding but also create an alternative water supply source for the city and surrounding communities. |

Idylwood and Bayou Relief Sewers Houston, Texas The City of Houston was ordered by the EPA and TNRCC to correct sanitary sewer overflows due to infiltration and inflow throughout service areas. RS&H reviewed the Alternative Analysis and Value Engineering reports for the relief sewers along Idylwood and within the Gus Wortham Golf Course and determined that the initial recommendation did not meet city or state requirements. RS&H re-engineered the system with new alignments, sizes and grades. Some lines were open-cut, however, much of the new system was tunneled. |
