Jacksonville Converts to Clean Fuel

The Florida Engineering Society magazine (FES) recently featured an article on CNGNortheast Florida’s initiative to convert its public transportation using the clean fuel of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). The initiative was based on a P3 model developed by RS&H, in which a private developer designed, built and operated the CNG fueling infrastructure at minimal up front cost to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA).

“The P3 approach allowed JTA to focus on its core competency – helping folks get from A to B,” said RS&H Senior project manager Tom McVey.  In addition to the environmental benefits, the CNG conversion will reduce fuel costs to the Agency by as much as $4 million over the next four years.
