LifeLink is a non-profit community service organization dedicated to the recovery and transplantation of an increasing number of high-quality organs and tissues for transplant therapy. The LifeLink Foundation works sensitively, diligently, and compassionately with donor families to facilitate the donation of desperately needed organs and tissues for waiting patients.
As the first phase of a 130,000-square-foot campus Master Plan, the LifeLink Tissue Bank and Processing Center houses complete laboratories, clean rooms, and cryogenic storage for harvesting, processing, and banking human tissue (allografts) for surgical implantation. The allografts are utilized in almost all surgical disciplines, including orthopedic, neurology, gynecology, cardiac surgery, burn care, and many others.
The facility contains six GTP clean room processing modules (Class 1,000, ISO 6) for the cleaning and processing of allografts, pre-process and post-process corridor protocols (Class 100,000, ISO 8), sterilization suites, Allowash® and demineralization suites (Call 1,000, ISO 6), microbiology laboratories, QA/QC functions, hospital services autopsy suites, and cryogenic storage areas.
RS&H designed the facility to allow efficient process flows and adhere to FDA and AATB standards. The process areas are supported by a mechanical interstitial space above for ease of maintenance. Without compromising the clean rooms below, this interstitial space further strengthens the concept for expandability and adaptability in the future.
RS&H developed the project in BIM Revit software.
