Since 2006, RS&H has served on a team of consultants that support the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which provides post disaster planning support to individual communities through its Long-Term Community Recovery (LTCR) program. Through the LTCR program, FEMA assists communities in establishing a community-based, long-term post disaster vision for recovery, identifying projects and funding strategies to achieve that vision, and employing a mechanism to implement those projects. Focus sector areas include housing, economic development, human services, the environment, and infrastructure. RS&H provided an experienced staff of environmental, transportation, and land-use engineers and planners, as well as analytical writers who remain on-call for immediate mobilization to designated disaster areas.
RS&H has provided teams to Florida, Texas, Louisiana, North Dakota, and Ohio. These teams have supported the recovery efforts for damages resulting from windstorms, tornados, severe spring rains and floods, and hurricanes such as Katrina and Ike. Our staff provides a wide range of services through the LTCR program, including damage assessments, cost estimates, written reports, assistance with grant applications, and coordination and facilitation assistance between city, county, state, and federal agencies.
