NAVFAC Tri-Service Energy Tool

RS&H’s custom energy modeling spreadsheet tool is helping the U.S. Army, Air Force, and Navy calculate annual energy consumption and costs for the Department of Defense (DoD) solicitations. The tool estimates the baseline facility energy consumption and costs for 14 typical DoD building types, following the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) 90.1 (2007), Appendix G (Performance Rating Method). Facility types include:

RS&H used the Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) to develop over 440 building energy models for buildings of different sizes and types within 17 different climate zones throughout the U.S. The team then compiled the data from the energy models to create an energy usage algorithm for the various buildings energy end use components. 

The tool produces an ASHRAE 90.1 (2007) baseline energy consumption and cost estimate. The tool also provides a breakdown of the annual energy use and cost for each end use category required for LEED energy models.
