US Department of State Water & Energy Audits

RS&H conducted comprehensive energy and water surveys, as well as developed utility cost saving projects on the basis of detailed energy and life cycle cost evaluations for U.S. State Department facilities worldwide. Sites included 11 U.S. Embassies and their associated facilities in ten countries.

A wide range of projects was developed, including architectural changes, lighting systems, HVAC and innovative systems, such as solar water distillation. The survey also included verification of the existing electricity utility billing meter. A calibrated recording kilowatt-hour meter is connected parallel to the existing meter and readings are compared while on site.

RS&H developed energy and water saving projects for 389 of the buildings, representing almost 2,000,000 square feet of floor area. Total potential savings were close to $1 million per year.
