Bridge of Lions

This structure required a complete restoration and rehabilitation. As part of completing that process, RS&H developed an architectural lighting design scheme to enhance the nighttime appearance of the renovated structure as well.

Prior to starting, designers met with city and state officials to understand their overall concerns and objectives. Our team then reviewed the drawings and began forming an understanding of how lighting might be integrated to further enhance the structure. The team took those ideas and created a mock-up display of a portion of the structure before it was installed to make sure that the client was in alignment. The preliminary scheme involved lighting the steel substructure and piers from just below the bridge deck, with additional spotlighting proposed for the draw-bridge towers.

With the help of advanced lighting software, we were able to place the photometric characteristics of specific lighting equipment within a 3D CAD model of the bridge, allowing the client to preview a complete visualization of the lighted bridge prior to construction.
