Kings Bay Waterfront Facility Repairs

RS&H provided field inspection and full-design services for repairs to six waterfront facilities with an estimated construction cost of $40.5 million at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. The team evaluated existing conditions and provided the US Navy with several repair and cathodic protection options, a technique used to control the corrosion of a metal surface, as well as estimated construction costs and expected service life for each facility. RS&H also interviewed key personnel about operational requirements related to construction phasing, maintenance, and components. To assist the Navy in operational phasing, funding requirements, and construction award vehicles, we provided four full design packages to five of the facilities, each awarded individually. In order to perform repairs during a FY12 facility shutdown, design for repairs to two facilities were accelerated and awarded six months early and under budget.
