RS&H is working with the Florida Department of Transportation to identify and prioritize vulnerabilities to flooding along the corridor and develop concepts to ensure the continuation of service following a flooding event now and in the future.
RS&H performed design and bid phase services to reconstruct Taxiway J from Taxiway Z to Taxiway Y and connect Taxiways K7, K8, and their associated safety areas.
Over the past 30 years, RS&H has supported continuous, data-driven sustainability performance improvement for the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA), which operates a worldwide network of over 280 commissaries and central distribution centers.
RS&H conducted a comprehensive master plan for AMA to evaluate its current and future capacity to meet aviation demand. The result was a comprehensive framework that guides the airport's growth, considering environmental considerations, public outreach, financial planning, and regulatory measures.
The project strategically tackled challenges such as increased flights and larger aircraft, including Group IV widebody aircraft. The plan encompassed issues like aircraft parking, gate allocation, and capacity of the airfield and terminal.
The RS&H-designed Detroit Metropolitan Airport’s Runway and Associated Taxiways Reconstruction project earned Envision ‘Silver’ certification after being completed ahead of time, under budget, and diverting 99 percent of recyclable material from landfills.
As the airport's prime design consultant, RS&H identified innovative solutions that minimized impacts so that the airport could continue to provide a world-class travel experience for its passengers.
This innovative and cost-effective design-build project comprised the design and construction of 6.1 miles of roadway, including a limited access toll road and a non-tolled local road in Lake and Seminole Counties, Florida.
RS&H has been an integral part of the airport’s development since 2009, leading significant projects ranging from terminal and apron expansions to new taxiways and landside enhancements, contributing to its position as one of the fastest-growing airports in the United States.
RS&H was tasked by environmental agencies to design the ends of the bridge to minimize impacts to coastal wetlands in order for the project to be permitted. We had the challenge of designing bridge bent locations to avoid a submerged aquatic vegetation area under part of the bridge.
The Sawgrass Expressway opened in 1988 but fell three miles short of I-95, forcing vehicles destined for I-95 to utilize the local road networks, including SW 10th Street. Since the original studies, several unsuccessful attempts were made throughout the decades to make this three-mile connection.
