Focus Areas & Services
RS&H has been performing bridge scoping and repair recommendations, routine bridge safety inspection, and in-depth bridge safety inspection across five Regions for MDOT since 2019. Structure types have included reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete I-beam, riveted steel girders with pin and hangers, simply supported steel I-beams, and variable depth continuous steel girders. Using the information gathered during our in-depth bridge inspection, we coordinate with MDOT’s Bridge Unit to develop repair recommendations, including life-cycle cost analysis, to assist Regions with planning and prioritizing future maintenance, rehabilitation, or replacement projects.

As part of IDOT’s long-term US 20 improvement plans, this project in Kane County, IL enhances safety and mobility for all modes of transportation while increasing the service life of US 20.
RS&H serves as the prime Program Management Consultant for construction engineering services on the Michigan Department of Transportation’s multi-year Bridge Bundling Program.
RS&H is working with the Florida Department of Transportation to identify and prioritize vulnerabilities to flooding along the corridor and develop concepts to ensure the continuation of service following a flooding event now and in the future.
