Breaking Ground on Jacksonville’s Interstate Hub

November 4, 2016

Thursday morning, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) was joined by Governor Rick Scott and a number of other state and local officials in breaking ground on Jacksonville’s bustling I-95/I-295 interchange. This interchange is a vital connection used to reach destinations like JIA, JAXPORT, and downtown Jacksonville, making the major upgrades to safety and mobility crucial as the number of drivers continues to increase.

The expansive improvements were conceptualized by the RS&H/Archer Western design-build team as a solution to long-standing issues that resulted from the close proximity of the I-95 and U.S. 17 interchanges. The strategically-planned design-build is expected to reduce congestion and lower long-term maintenance costs for the roadways.

Archer Western and RS&H Visualization Experts teamed up to develop a high-impact video, allowing us take an early look at the innovative and efficient design. Completion of the project is anticipated for summer of 2020.
