Burbank, CA
Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority
The main goal is to carefully assess and disclose the potential environmental effects of the project and any feasible alternatives, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as FAA regulations.
The project has been years in the making and involves the construction of a replacement passenger terminal and related support facilities at BUR airport. The process began in November 2015 when the Authority retained RS&H to prepare essential environmental documents, including an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) as mandated by the California Environmental Quality Act.
After meticulous analysis and considerations, the EIR was certified in July 2016, and the Burbank City Council approved the Authority’s application for a Development Agreement, supported by the city’s voters later that year. The Development Agreement has been implemented, and the Airport Layout Plan has now been updated to incorporate the Project.
The EIS aims to delve into any various environmental aspects that may be affected by the project. This comprehensive assessment will consider a wide range of factors, including air quality, wildlife and plant biology, climate, coastal resources, historical and cultural heritage, noise and its compatibility with surrounding land use, water resources, and more.
Moreover, the EIS will also encompass issues of social significance, such as socioeconomics, environmental justice, children’s environmental health and safety risks.
